Are you stressed? Overwhelmed? Feeling like you have nobody to talk to or will understand you? Taking the steps to make changes in your life is the beginning of enhancing your well-being. I strongly believe in a teamwork approach. We will problem solve and create your own treatment plan as unique as you are. One plan or course of treatment certainly does not fit all, and I look forward to finding what works for you. I have experience working with substance abuse, depression, anxiety, interpersonal issues, bereavement and loss.
I have been in the field for over 20 years working with mental health disorders and substance abuse issues. I provide services to children, tweens, teens and adults.
I am diverse, creative and have an empathetic ear. I look forward to joining your journey and assisting you in reaching your goals.

I believe that the work of therapy is about developing a healthy relationship with oneself and with other people in the community in order to live a happy and meaningful life. It is about finding ways to live in balance and with integrity in what can be a complicated and difficult world that does not always make that easy. Often times we need a "tune up" in handling our emotions and developing better coping skills to approach new or different circumstances in life. This is what therapy is all about. It’s creating an experience that enables you to be comfortable sharing in order to grow.
Melissa Snyder, LMSW
Fear of failure, fear of the past and fear of the unknown can hold us back from becoming our best selves. Change is hard and loss is even harder. Our thoughts and feelings can sometimes be so overwhelming that it seems hard to move forward in life.
As a helping hand, I work to assist teens, adults and couples who feel burdened by the challenges of life to discover and build upon their inner strength. I specialize in goal-oriented motivational enhancement therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to assist those struggling with stress, anxiety, depression and other conflicting emotions. I also have extensive experience working with people struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and substance use. I utilize person centered approaches to customize treatment and I have experience with utilizing art therapy interventions when interested.
As a therapist, I help my clients identify what is going well in their lives as well as where they would like to see changes made. We then collaborate on a goal and work together to break it down into small, manageable, and attainable steps. I am continually inspired by the progress my clients make to better their lives and in the relationships they share with others. I love the work that I do because it gives me the opportunity and privilege to work one-on-one with people to help them improve the quality of their lives

“Strength grows in the moments you think you can’t go on but you keep going anyway”
It is not possible to undo the past, trauma, difficulty or emotional pain that has existed but together we can learn to practice acceptance, gain insight, improve our ability to cope, and come to resolutions to increase our potential to find inner peace and safety. Change and transformation are an inevitable and ongoing part of the human experience. All of us feel ill-equipped to meet life’s challenges at times. We may develop unhealthy coping skills, or cling to ways of thinking that do not serve us or make things worse. We can develop patterns of thinking and behaving in ways that leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, stuck, afraid, stagnant, traumatized, in pain, reactive, which can result in dysfunction and negatively affect every aspect of our lives and as well as our relationships with others.
Therapy is a process of discovery, growth and healing. Together, we find ways for you to move through and beyond life’s challenges. My role as a therapist is to actively listen and be fully present. Through deep, honest conversations and connection, I help people to discover what hurts, heal from past wounds, and find ways to reset, by building on strengths, co-developing positive coping skills that work, and finding strategies and ways of thinking in order to create more ease and contentment, to be more relaxed, present and happy, for a life that is more manageable and has purpose.
A licensed Master of Social Work, (LMSW) Susan works with individuals, couples and leads groups. She uses a blended approach to psycho-therapy, drawing from various evidence-based therapeutic practices including but not limited to Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Psycho-education, Motivation interviewing (MI), Gestalt therapy, Mindfulness, Yoga philosophy, and the Strengths Perspective.
